We, the citizens of Waycross and others users of the Aquifer, petition local, state, and federal officials, the State of Georgia -Environmental Protection Division and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to test Mary Street Park, residents homes, businesses, city wells, the Satilla River, and our aquifer for toxic contamination.

EPA Seven Out Superfund Site documents that this community was in “imminent danger”as a result of Seven Out Superfund Site.  EPA documents further reveal that “contaminations entered an unnamed creek” which was our City Canal system.   EPA reports document ground water, surface water, and soil contamination routes and states that the levels of toxins “exceed residential levels”.  EPA reports found Arsenic, Barium, Chromium, Copper, Iron, lead, Manganese, Zinc, Mercury, benzene, Acenaphthalene, Anthracene, Fluoranthene, Phenanthrene, acetone, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, Pyrene, Crysene, Benz(a)anthracene, Benzo(a)pyrene, Benzo(b)fluoranthene, Dibenz(a,h)anthracene, Phenols, Phenol Compounds, and  Indeno(1,23-cd)pyrene at the Seven Out Superfund Site.  EPA charts the number of residence in the area BUT then states, “due to the LACK of residence”it was not a concern.   Since this contamination, many people have died and are suffering masses, cancer, heart problems, and neurological problems.  I demand that the EPD/EPA test for these toxic chemicals in our neighborhoods, clean all affected property and the aquifer.
